It’s Back to School and Save Mart Helps Schools Raise Funds for Programs
S.H.A.R.E.S. Makes Fundraising Easy, Efficient, and Secure

Parents Can Also Save Money on Clothes with GAP Gift Card Promotion

Modesto, Calif., August 21, 2012 – As schools open for a new year they will need extra funds to offset the deep cuts to their annual budgets, Save Mart Supermarkets S.H.A.R.E.S. (Support Humanities, Arts, Recreation, Education, and Sports) program is an easy way to boost funding for local schools and organizations. Approximately 3,100 schools are signed up with the SHARES program. Shoppers at Save Mart, S-Mart Foods, Lucky, FoodMaxx, and Maxx Value Food stores simply swipe their S.H.A.R.E.S. cards at the check stand to earn up to 3 cents of every dollar they spend on qualified purchases. This ongoing program contributes a total of $4.5 Million per year in funds for schools and other organizations.

“The ongoing economic climate makes fundraising more challenging,” said Kevin McCray, Executive Director of Marketing for Save Mart Supermarkets. “The S.H.A.R.E.S. program makes it possible for our customers to support their schools, churches, clubs, or organizations without feeling the pinch.”

Nearly every school, church, club, or organization is eligible to participate and may request a S.H.A.R.E.S. card for each member. Organizations may sign up online at www.savemart.com, www.luckysupermarkets.com, or www.foodmaxx.com, or by calling 1-800-477-5437. S.H.A.R.E.S. program cards do not expire.

S.H.A.R.E.S. program participants simply swipe their cards at the check stand when they shop at any Save Mart, S-Mart Foods, Lucky, FoodMaxx or Maxx Value store to earn up to 3 percent of their qualified purchases for the organization of their choice. S.H.A.R.E.S. cards carry no value and are easily replaced if lost, stolen, or misplaced. Because the cards are issued to the beneficiary organizations they do not contain any member’s personal information. S.H.A.R.E.S. contributions will be paid out at the end of each calendar quarter.

To help with back to school clothes, GAP has a special gift card promotion offered in both Save Mart and Lucky stores from September 5 to September 11. Customers can save $5.00 for every $25.00 GAP gift card purchased up to $100.00. GAP gift cards include Baby GAP, Old Navy, Banana Republic, and GAP Options.
