Modesto, Calif.- The Save Mart Companies has announced its second Lucky California store, located in Carmel, with the grand opening of the latest concept on February 28.

“I’m thrilled with what our new store offers the community in Carmel. We’ve heard what you have been asking for in a grocery store and I hope we have exceeded your expectations,” explains Alesia Moreno, store manager of Lucky California in Carmel.

Inspired by the thriving food culture of the Bay Area, Lucky California reflects the locally grown foods, unique cuisine and diverse cultures from throughout the region. From the fresh food bars to the meal and drink hubs, Lucky California is infused with unique flavors and offerings to make each trip an opportunity for discovery. The Carmel store also provides shoppers with expanded services including a coffee bar proudly brewing Peet’s Coffee and Tea, a fresh soup and salad bar, ready to eat meals, expanded organic and better-for-you items and unique and favorite local products with a premium placed on farms and producers from regions throughout Northern California and the Central Valley.

Keeping it local, Carmel High School will be creating two large murals celebrating the food culture of the region and will be on display at the entrance to the store. The store will contribute $2,000 to support the school’s arts programs with an official unveiling of the murals to be held later this year.

And to round out the celebration, the store will celebrate its grand opening alongside Doris Day’s 96th birthday! To honor this longtime Carmel resident and renowned animal lover, the store has contributed $2,500 to the Doris Day Animal Foundation birthday celebration fundraiser which takes place on March 30 and 31.

The Save Mart Companies, the parent company of Lucky Supermarkets, successfully launched the first Lucky California store in Daly City in 2015. With 69 stores, Lucky Supermarkets is a name residents of the greater Bay Area have known for decades. Lucky California transforms the grocery shopping experience by embracing the California spirit, identity, and flavors.
