Employees’ “Giving Trees” To Be Donated to Modesto Gospel Mission

Sharing the spirit of the season, “Giving Trees” are popping up in Save Martoffices

Modesto, Calif., December 16, 2011– It started as a fun idea with the employees for department competition at Save Mart’s office on Yosemite Avenue in Modesto, near the Gospel Mission.Which department could build the most festive, decorated “tree” out of canned food? All the can“trees” would then be donated to the Modesto Gospel Mission. It was a great idea and spread to the main corporate office on Standiford Ave. in Modesto. Guidelines specify “trees” be no higher than 5 feet high (departments can do more than one tree if needed), employees are purchasing Save Mart’s “our brands” canned goods to save money, and decorations areencouraged to be handmade and environmentally friendly. The Gospel Mission provided a list of their needs to help with shopping.

All the canned goods, along with 20 hams donated by Sunny Valley Smoked Meats of Manteca, will be delivered via “borrowed” shopping carts from the Yosemite office on Tuesday, December 20. Additionally, office employees adopted 59 children for Christmas who live at the Mission and are providing each one a gift pack of essentials like pants, pajamas, socks, sweaters, blankets, and toys. These will also be delivered next Tuesday along with the canned goods.Times may be tough but the spirit of giving is alive and well at Save Mart.
