FoodMaxx, Save Mart and Lucky stores throughout California and Northern Nevada celebrated National Read Across America Day by reading to local elementary school classrooms!

Stores celebrated this annual tradition, which allows store managers and employees to connect with their community, at their adopted schools. Through The Save Mart Companies’ Adopt-a-School Program, stores adopt one local elementary school every year which entitles them to year-round support and perks like teacher treats and even book donations on National Read Across America Day.

This year, in addition to reading stories about grocery stores and food, store managers and employees also read tales that instilled the lessons of kindness and generosity. The books were then donated to the school so that other children can enjoy throughout the year! By all reports, the students enjoyed the reading activities!
