Bakersfield FoodMaxx, located on Niles Street, adopted Hort Elementary for the 2019-2020 school year. To celebrate this partnership, the store hosted a supermarket sweep to provide healthy snacks for their after school programs.
School representatives had the opportunity to race down the aisles to grab as many healthy snacks as they could in three minutes. When the time was up, Hort Elementary was able to get $500 worth of snacks for their after school programs!
Annually, each FoodMaxx store selects a neighboring elementary school through the company’s Adopt-a-School program. Throughout the year, the store supports the school with food, books and other resources, bringing their commitment to ‘Nourishing Communities’ in full circle.
