From November 14 to December 28, shoppers at all 207 of our stores were able to donate to their local food bank at the checkout stands. The 2016 campaigned netted more than $328,000 for about three dozens organizations serving the hungry. That’s an 80% jump from 2015. 100% of the funds benefit our partner food banks. Over the next several days, stores managers all over California and Northern Nevada are delivering the money to grateful food banks. In Fresno alone, the Community Bank received $38,921. That’s enough to provide 270,000 meals!

The Save Mart Companies steps up the rest of the year too. Many of these food banks participate in our Fresh Rescue Program, helping these organizations all year long with perishable donations. In 2016, The Save Mart Companies collectively donated 6.3 million pounds of produce, meat and dairy products to local food banks.  It a great way to supplement canned goods and other shelf-stable products.
