Lucky Supermarkets donated $5,000 in grocery gift cards to Covenant House in Oakland. This organization is a first-time recipient of a C.A.R.E.S. grant. Lucky, which is the official grocer of the Golden State Warrior, became acquainted with Covenant House through the team. The Warriors’ back office renovated this transitional shelter for homeless youth back in December, and donated a week’s worth of groceries for that occasion.

This $5,000 grant will help ease the non-profit’s food budget, which is the organization’s largest non-personnel expense. The money also enables Covenant House to give grocery gift cards to the young men and women who have completed the residential program and are ready to move out on their own. Representatives from Store 700 and 736 were on hand. Covenant House is grateful for the generous donation.
