Modesto, Calif., March 2014– Customers and employees raised over $169,000 this year for Children’s Hospitals throughout Northern California and Nevada, during this year’s, “Helping Hands, Healing Kids” campaign.  Save Mart’s family of stores sold paper icons for $1.00 in February, decorating walls and doors with signed icons.  Enthusiastic employees got behind the campaign, including support offices, and our shoppers proved once again to be extremely generous.

Our annual Children’s Hospital campaign really hits home for our employee’s and shoppers, as it continues to be the second highest earning campaign for the company with the first being local food banks.  Children’s Hospitals combine compassionate, personal care with sophisticated, state-of-the-art technology to provide essential 24-hour care and services such as trauma, burn, neonatal intensive care and pediatric intensive care units to children from all counties in California and children with special needs from throughout the country and the world.

“This campaign clearly makes a strong connection with our employees and shoppers. Providing the opportunity to support the amazing, life-saving work at these hospitals is a privilege.”  Steve Junqueiro, President and COO of Save Mart Supermarkets.

Hospitals receiving funds this year are Bakersfield Memorial Hospital, Children’s Hospital of Central California, Oakland Children’s Hospital, Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital, UC Davis and Nevada’s Renown Children’s Hospital.
