Wing Brings 35 Years of Grocery Store and Management Experience

Modesto, Calif., May 29, 2012– Save Mart Supermarkets welcomes Brett Wing as the new Vice President of FoodMaxx Operations. Wing comes from Cub Foods/SUPERVALU in Hudson, Wisconsin and brings 35 years of grocery store and senior management experience. In 1987, he joined the Cub Foods/SUPERVALU and held various positions, including Vice President of Marketing, Corporate Director of Produce, Corporate Director of FrozenFood/Dairy/Liquor, Senior Director of Merchandising, Division Manager, District Manager, and Store Manager.

Wing’s grocery career started with Safeway in Boulder Colorado and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and a Master of Business Administration. He served on the Board of Trustees for the National MS Society for the past five years and was an active community leader serving as the President of the Cub Cares Community Foundation.

EVP and Chief Sales Officer, and past Vice President of Food Maxx, Frank Capps knows what leadership is needed and feels Brett is the right person for the job. “Brett’s vast experience with Cub Foods and the variety of positions he has held at SUPERVALU will allow him to help grow our Food Maxx market share in an economy that is very challenging for our customers,” said Capps. “It is a time where our customers are looking for value in every food item they buy. We are looking forward to his fresh look at our business.”

“I’m thrilled to join the family at Save Mart, a company with 60 years of rich culture, an amazing growth history, and deep roots in the communities we serve,” said Wing. “Even though I have been in the grocery industry for 35 years, I’m looking forward to the challenge of learning a new culture, vision, and core values.”
