A quarter here. A dollar there. They all added up for The Save Mart Companies’ C.A.R.E.S. Foundation. During the California State Fair’s two-week run this summer, visitors to the Save Mart Wine Garden could tip the volunteers who were pouring those award winning reds and whites. By the end, wine tasters tipped a total of $6,168 … all of which benefits C.A.R.E.S.
The foundation approves grants that help communities where Save Mart, Lucky and FoodMaxx stores are located. Previous funding has included a delivery truck for a food bank, English classes for immigrants and musical instruments for a school district. Last year, The Save Mart Companies C.A.R.E.S. Foundation donated more than $300,000 in funding.
